Dutch Masters from Budapest – Masterpieces from the Szépmüvészeti Múzeum

At the invitation of Frans Hals Museum, the Szépmüvészeti Múzeum from Budapest brings the masterpieces of their seventeenth-century Netherlandish art collection to Haarlem. A selection of more then eighty works from the Budapest collection mirrors the refined collection of the Frans Hals Museum itself. In order to distinguish the two collections, OTW has introduced a subtle reference to the national flag of the two countries. This discrete element runs through the galleries by means of way finding, connecting the Budapest works like a string of pearls on a ribbon. The sequence concludes in a special presentation of drawings in the former cloister refectory. Concurring with the architecture of the gallery, OTW has designed a set of lecterns and stands to enable an intimate, close look at these rare works of art.
